Hello, friends of the Cheat Lake Farmers’ Market!
Tomorrow (Monday, June 4) will be the first Cheat Lake Farmers’ Market of the 2012 season. Like last season, the market will be held from 4-7pm in the parking lot of the Chestnut Ridge Church (2223 Cheat Road, across from Ruby & Ketchy’s Restaurant). I hope you’re all able to make it!
We will have several new vendors this season in addition to most of the vendors from last season. And we’ll be adding vendors as the season progresses. Here’s a list of what each vendor plans to offer for sale tomorrow:
Chipps Family Farm:
Hanging strawberry plants with berries
Mountain Diamond Longhorns:
Frozen steaks, ribs, roasts, and lean ground beef
An assortment of specialty cuts, as well as gourmet, all-beef (no byproducts) jerky and summer sausage
Hopefully chard, baby romaine, tart red lettuce, and maybe some beets
Monarda (a red variety)
Bachelor’s Button (a purple variety)
Candy Stripe Cosmos
A few Calendula
Maybe Snapdragons Tall Deluxe and Milkweed
All are old heirloom varieties, and all containers and labels are reused materials!
Sines Family Farm:
Bags of lettuce
Bunches of onions
Dried hot peppers
(Will be checking the bees, but not sure if they’ve been making honey yet)
Working H Farms / TJ’s Mercantile:
Whole cut up chickens
Boneless / skinless breasts
Sausage breakfast / Italian bulk
Clear View Farm:
Rosemary Garlic Bread
Pepper Garlic Bread
Basil Onion Bread
Peach and Apple Pies
Mini Nut Cups
Ridge Way Farm:
Mixed green and red lettuce
I’m impressed with the variety of goods being offered on this first market day of the season! There’s something on this list for everyone. Hope to see you at the market tomorrow!
